Toy Town in Cadillac is getting ready for its 6th annual Toy Trot.

“I think everyone deserves to have something. Christmas is one of those times we have a chance to give back,” said Toy Town store owner, Thaddaeus Dommesen.

Giving back, by giving toys.

The money raised from the race at the end of the month will be used to buy toys to donate to Toys for Tots.

“Our wife and I are new owners so we want to continue the tradition and it just gives us a great opportunity to raise money for Toys for Tots,” explained Dommesen. “So far we’ve raised over $5,000 and we are very excited to be a part of this.”

Add that to $7,000 worth of toys already collected to be donated to Toys for Tots this year.

Since the very first Toy Trot in 2011, Toy Town has raised more than $32,000 through runner’s fees and toy donations.

Josh Pellow has run the Toy Trot for the past five years.

“I like to stick to races that have a good cause or a good support to our community,” said five-time runner, Josh Pellow. “I think it’s really beneficial a great race. That money comes back to Cadillac, the Wexford, Missaukee county areas.”

“Being the time of year it’s great that this event is on it helps give toys to local kids in need or families that are struggling this time of year so it’s a great opportunity to help out kids in our community,” Pellow added
