Sixteen years ago the world was introduced to one of the most revolutionary devices for listening to music.

It was Oct. 23, 2001 that Apple co-founder Steve Jobs first unveiled the iPod.

The first device sold on Nov. 10 of the same year for nearly $100.

At that point, the iPod was a simple device used solely to store and play music files.

Since then, this day has been dubbed National iPod Day.
