A body was found on a disc golf course in Mason County, now deputies are trying to figure out what may have happened.

The victim has been identified as a man from Mason County.

The Mason County sheriff says the death is considered suspicious.

Someone on the course on Jebavy Drive near Ludington came across the man’s body around 6 Sunday night.

It was that discovery that brought investigators to a disc golf course in Mason County.

They were back on scene Monday looking for more clues.

“There is a report that he had a bicycle. They’ve learned since last night that there may be a bicycle out there that they’re going to see if they can go back out and can find the bicycle or anything else that may lead to what caused his death,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The sheriff also says they don’t have much to go on to point to a cause of death, and that’s why the death is considered suspicious.

“It’s not every day you expect to find 28-year-old, relatively healthy young man out in the woods deceased. There was nothing about the body that pointed to any cause of death. Until we can determine a cause it will be investigated as a suspicious death and that means we will go wherever the leads take us. The big thing last night at least early on was to identify the victim,” noted Cole.

The sheriff hopes getting back on scene Monday will help answer more questions while those who live near the course wait for answers on what happened.

“It was just, oh my gosh it’s pretty close. Maybe he just died naturally, hopefully that he was out there playing, having a good time hopefully. It’s too bad he was alone and nobody reported it earlier,” said Lois Rasch who lives near the course.

The man’s name has not been released. The sheriff hopes to have autopsy results later this week.
