Hook & Hunting: Deer Check Regulations

9&10 Logo

With whitetail hunting season quickly approaching, the DNR would like to remind hunters of mandatory deer check regulations in some Northern Michigan counties.

With the recent discoveries of chronic wasting disease the DNR has set up an increased number of deer check stations in Montcalm and Mecosta counties, or deer management unit 359.

If you harvest a deer from the nine townships in this unit it is mandatory that you have it checked by the DNR for CWD.

You can find a link to the DNR’s virtual map of these counties and check stations .
