Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center Helps Record-Breaking Number Of Kids In August
In August, Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center saw record-breaking numbers for children coming in.
Forty-five kids across six counties and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians reported their abuse to the center during the month of August.
Staff say while it’s hopeful children are coming to them, it’s inexcusable so many have become victims.
“The fact that we get these kids closer to the time of disclosure and close to the time this incident happens that’s the good piece because then we can help the families move forward and heal,” says Amelia Ciders of the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center.
The center says its all about making sure a child is able to share their story in a safe, non-threatening environment.
