Hook and Hunting: Conservation Center Celebrates 25 Years

The Carl T. Johnson Center in Cadillac is celebrating 25 years of hunting and fishing education.

The center in Cadillac was built to spread the importance of conservation and give people the equipment and knowledge to begin hunting and fishing.

To celebrate a quarter century anniversary, the center is throwing a pancake breakfast this Saturday and hosting an open house for people to try some outdoor activities.

Edward Shaw, park interpreter, says having the center be a go-to for sportsmen is like an investment in someone’s life.

"It gives us a sense of pride, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing your students be successful and getting involved in the outdoors because you’re providing a lifetime opportunity for a lot of folks,” he says.
