Manistee Woman Facing Open Murder Charge

A Manistee woman was in court Wednesday and is now facing open murder charges.

Police say she stabbed her husband to death.

Jeneva Schaub is accused of killing her husband, Bruce.

Police tell us the crime played out Tuesday morning in Manistee at a home on 4th street.

9&10’s Taylor Jones was in the court room Wednesday.

Schaub was quiet as she heard the open murder charge.

She was denied bond because of the seriousness of what she faces.

“A male is unconscious from the stabbing,” says scanner traffic from broadcastify.com.

A chilling 911 call paints a disturbing picture of Bruce Schaub’s final moments alive.

His wife Jeneva, accused of stabbing him to death.

“I didn’t really know what to expect, seeing a forensic van right in my neighborhood and it was kind of concerning. But I didn’t think it would be a big deal or it was some kind of false alarm,” says Kaleb Kaminski, neighbor.

Police tried to save Bruce, but he died in the hospital.

A day later, neighbors still can’t believe what they heard and saw.

“I think everyone in absolute shock, just a local business person to my knowledge and I didn’t know her, but just a very shocking thing to happen just up the street,” says Luke Guzikowski, neighbor.

What led to the stabbing is still a mystery.

Police have refused to give that information, but we are told the couple had kids.

“I hope that they find a good home for how many kids there were there. It’s unfortunate for them because they are going to be without parents,’ says Guzikowski.

Kaminski added,

“My heart goes out to them hopefully they get all of the assistance they need from any family that might be around.”

Schaub is expected to be back in court later this month.

If convicted, she could face life in prision.
