Manistee County Inmate Who Failed To Return to Jail Now in Custody

The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office says an inmate who failed to return from visiting an ailing family member is now in custody.

The sheriff’s office says Jasper Hill, originally from Mesick, was granted a short term furlough Tuesday to visit an ill family member.

Hill was released from custody at 9 a.m. and was supposed to return at 5 p.m. but never did.

The sheriff’s office also says Hill may have made threats toward his ex-girlfriend’s fiance, who is believed to be living in Cheboygan County.

Hill was found by Wexford County deputies just after 12 p.m.
