County Commissioners Meet with Trump Administration at White House

County commissioners from across Michigan just wrapped up a meeting at the White House with some top members of President Trump’s administration.

That included commissioners from northern Michigan.

They were able to discuss issues such as infrastructure, pension debt and essential air service funding.

We spoke to Grand Traverse County Commissioner Carol Crawford who says they were also able to establish a direct line of communication with multiple departments.

“It seems sometimes like we are so far removed from the federal government, that what they do doesn’t matter but it does matter. I feel like we’re not quite so far removed and having a direct line of contact can be very valuable,” noted Crawford.

Commissioners also heard presentations from administration leaders including education secretary Betsy DeVos.
