Munson Medical Center Nurses to Vote on Possibility of Unionizing

We have continuing coverage on the possibility of nurses at Munson Medical Center forming a union.

Wednesday the nurses will start voting on the possibility of unionizing at 6 a.m.

They have until 9 p.m. Thursday to decide if they want to form a union.

Earlier this year the nurses received enough signatures to hold a vote.

The Michigan Nurses Association is accusing the hospital of unfair labor practices.

Some nurses say they don’t see the need to change anything.

The president of Munson Medical Center says if nurses unionize it could complicate problem-solving efforts between the two parties.

Northern Michigan’s News Leader will continue to follow this vote and update you on air and online when the decision is announced.
