Historic Mackinaw City Icebreaker Seeks Help For Repairs

A legendary ice breaker in Mackinaw City is putting out a call for help.

The U.S. Coast Guard Icebreaker Mackinaw WAGB-83 is in need of $365,000 in repairs.

The Mackinaw Maritime Museum is hoping to raise the money through a GoFundMe campaign.

The historic vessel was built to help transport war materials in World War II, breaking ice to move ore, limestone and coal.

The icebreaker is located in Mackinaw City and is open for tours.
