Chippewa County Home Destroyed by Fire, Firefighters Rescue Dog

A happy reunion between an owner and his dogs after flames tore through their home near Sault Ste. Marie.

It took 3 departments to put the fire out.

The owner wasn’t home when the fire started Friday night but a neighbor called 911 when they saw the fire around 9:00.

The owners took this cell phone video when they got to their home on radar road in Soo Township.

One dog quickly escaped.

The other dog was found by firemen in the basement.

The owner told us that he believes the fire started on the back deck and much of the house is heavily damaged or destroyed.

Firefighters have not told us what may have caused the fire.
