US Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City Celebrates 227 Years

The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City is celebrating their 227th birthday.

Crews say it was a phenomenal way to celebrate Coast Guard Day, just by doing the job they love.

The duty crew was working Friday, while the rest spent time celebrating the special day with their family.

This day is set aside to honor all of these men and women and the courageous work they do every day.

“It’s celebrated, I like to think all over the United States but especially here in Traverse City, one of the coast guards designated cities, so its a lot of support from the local community and a lot of the families got together today and went out to the beach and celebrated and had a barbecue and sort of hung out at the beach and we got to go flying,” Jason Evans, U.S. Coast Guard Traverse City said.

And of course from all of us at 9&10 News, a big thank you specifically to U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City.
