Front Street Shuts Down for Traverse City’s Annual Downtown Street Sale

A major street in Traverse City was shut down Friday in the name of bargain shopping!

The 59th Annual Downtown Street Sale kicked off around 8 Friday morning, shutting down Front Street.

The only traffic allowed on the 100th and 200th block of Front Street is foot traffic.

Businesses brought their best deals out on the streets for shoppers to browse through.

This is the longest running event done by the city dating back to 1958.

Businesses say it’s a welcome bump before the fall.

“This is a great economic boost for the downtown, almost all the stores are out here on the street selling their wares,” said Colleen Paveglio, DDA marketing and deputy director.

Businesses will close up around 8 p.m.
