11-Year-Old Mason County Girl Sells Art to Raise Money for Type 1 Diabetes
Am 11-year-old Mason County girl is helping others struggling with something they share.
Julia Reed was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last July.
This spring she became one of the few spokeskids in Michigan.
Julia is a face for a nonprofit called JDRF that raises money and awareness for people with type 1 diabetes.
Friday from 5-7 p.m., she will be selling her art at an auction at Todd & Brad Reed Photography in Ludington to help.
She says she likes being able to put feelings onto paper.
“I just want to help other people, including myself. I just feel better when I do it,” said Julia. “I am really into art, I really like doing it. This is one of my favorites.”
Anyone who misses the auction but wants to donate can do so by clicking here.
All proceeds go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Julia is trying to raise at least $2,000 by Sept. 9.
