Hook & Hunting: Antlerless Deer Hunting License

There’s still time to apply for an antlerless deer hunting license.

Drawings started on July 15 and end on August 15.

Hunters can go to any deer management unit across the state to apply.

Younger hunters between the ages of 9 and 16 can buy a junior antlerless deer license without an application.

So far more than 20,000 licenses have been sold, but the DNR expects that number will soar to around 70,000.

“Antlerless licenses are limited, there’s a quota that means there could be more hunters that want antlerless deer licenses, so there’s a lottery system where you apply for your deer license,” Katie Keen, DNR wildlife outlook specialist said.

Leftover licenses will be sold on a first come first serve basis starting September 5.
