New Lake Mitchell EZ Launch in Cadillac Open for Public Use

The EZ Launch is ready for kayakers to take on Lake Mitchell State Park Campground in a new way than ever before.

It was put in place so people of any age and ability could easily get in the water.

All users have to do is lower themselves from the seat into the kayak, use their arms to pull themselves through the railing, and glide out into the water.

Tuesday was the official ribbon cutting.

But in the month it’s been open — over 100 people have already taken advantage of it.

“From personal experience I’m horrible at getting in a kayak so something like this is very beneficial of course for the handicap accessible,” said Chris Blessing, an EZ Launch user and member of the Cadillac Leadership Class that helped organize this project. “It kinda opens up a bunch of opportunities for people that never had that opportunity before and go out in the water and have fun especially on a day like this.”

It’s open for anyone to use, not just campers, as long as you have the Michigan State Parks sticker on your license plate.
