Hook & Hunting: St. Ignace Summer Fishing

Just over the bridge is a place that prides itself on four seasons full of fishing, St. Ignace just celebrated their annual Fish Fest.

People nearby made their way into town to try some of the freshly caught fish prepared near the water

St. Ignace says fishing is a huge part of their culture and the economy. It’s a great place for both novice and expert fishermen, especially in the summer.

“Summertime is popular for bass and walleye and perch too. It’s a huge economic impact on the town, we love fishermen coming in from all over the place,” says Visitor’s Bureau Executive Director Quincy Ranville.

Ranville says many people come to St. Ignace to get a crack at some of the chartered fishing opportunities in town.
