Cherry Capital Airport Receives $6 Million Grant From FAA

Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City is getting a multi-million dollar grant from the federal government.

The $6 million grant will support infrastructure projects, including the extension, construction and rehabilitation of multiple runways.

Senator Gary Peters says he’s excited about this grant and that it will continue to connect the world to Northern Michigan.

Senator Debbie Stabenow says this investment will make traveling more efficient and help local business grow.

We stopped by the airport Wednesday, and they explained why this is such an important grant.

“We want to make sure that we continue to strive to keep that development going to keep Cherry Capital Airport a state-of-the-art facility. When it comes to aircraft operating here in the warm summer days, they’ll be more reliable to insure everybody that the airline can take full capacity,” said Kevin Klein, Cherry Capital Airport director.
