Cadillac City Fire Department Practices Fire Safety With Kids In Clam Lake Township

Devastating fires like the one in Osceola County are reminder that they can happen quickly.

Saturday, one Northern Michigan fire department showed people how they prepare to fight them.

Members of the Cadillac City Fire Department held their annual fire expo at the Clam Lake Township Hall.

Kids got to meet the fire fighters and try out their equipment.

They also got to take part in a fire simulator to learn the best ways to get out of a burning building.

"It gives them a chance to learn some techniques and what to look out for and do during a fire,” says Joseph Barron, interior fire fighter. “It’s a chance for them to check out the trucks, all our tools and interact with all the fire fighters, put a face to our department."

The expo has been going on for nearly 20 years.
