Michigan Fire Chief Killed Responding to Crash Named Fire Chief of the Year
Fire chiefs across the state are honoring one of their own who died in the line of duty.
Comstock Township Chief Edward Switalski died last month after getting hit by a vehicle.
Switalski was named Fire Chief of the Year during the Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs meeting in Petoskey.
They say he was being considered for the award before his death.
Members of the Comstock Township Fire Department came to the meeting to accept the honor on his behalf.
Switalski worked for more than three decades in suburban Chicago before coming to Comstock in 2013.
