Group Walks From Pickford to Sault Ste. Marie as Part of Relay for Life

Six people, 26 miles, seven hours.

It was a challenge that was hard on the feet, but for a good cause.

Earlier this spring, the group came up with the idea to walk from Pickford to the Soo Area High School as part of the Relay for Life event.

Friday they did it with an escort.

This is the group’s sixth year taking part in the Relay for Life event.

One of the walkers beat breast cancer nearly a decade ago and continues to be a voice for cancer survivors.

“We promote it all year long. We are always doing fundraisers and one of these days we will find a cure,” says Linda Miller, a cancer survivor. “Every day is a blessing. Tomorrow is never promised.”

Sault Ste. Marie’s Relay for Life event runs through 10 a.m. Saturday.
