Courtney Sheffer, from the , shares where you can see some cannon’s fired off and a festival along the AuSable River in this week’s What’s Happening in Northern Michigan.
The will take place July 22-29 in Grayling, and spends the week celebrating life along the AuSable River.
Stop by on Tuesday, July 25 for Kid’s Day, the Classic Car Cruise on July 28 and on Saturday for the AuSable River Canoe Marathon.
You’ll also find ice cream socials, a beer tent, an arts & crafts show, live music and more all week long.
Head to Grayling on July 22-23 for its annual .
The public is invited to observe the long range competition of historic cannons at Camp Grayling.
Approximately 20 Civil War and Spanish American War field guns are expected to take part in the competition, as well as a dozen Civil War mortars.
Spectators will watch the cannon teams compete for best accuracy as they fire at targets and cannon reproductions.
Ear protection and binoculars or spotting scopes are strongly recommended!
With so much beauty found in west Michigan, the West Michigan Tourist Association wants you to show off what you love most about this beautiful side of the state and win some great west Michigan prizes!
The winning photo will be featured on the cover of the 2018 West Michigan Carefree Travel Guide, with additional prizes from Frederik Meijer Gardens, Indigo Bluffs RV Resort, Lewis Farms, Electric Bike Place and Michigan’s Adventure.
