Strong Winds Leave Thousands In The Dark Across Northern Michigan

Nearly 5,000 are in the dark across Northern Michigan Thursday Morning.

Forest View Elementary, Grayling High School and Crawford Ausable Daycare are closed Thursday due to power outages

Grand Traverse Central Dispatch says the intersection of South Cedar Street and Sixth Street is closed due to a down power line.

Near Cadillac, a viewer sent us photos of a tree that fell through the roof of their house in Stoneledge Lake.

It happened around 2:00 Thursday morning.

Everyone is okay, but now there’s a huge hole in their roof.

Just over 3,000 Consumers Energy customers are in the dark in Oscoda, Crawford, Ogemaw, Roscommon Missaukkee, Wexford, Manistee, Osceola, Lake, and Oceana counties.

More than 1,000 Presque Isle Electric and Gas Co-Op customers are without power in Montmorency, Oscoda and Otsego counties.

Consumers Energy says the power outages are due to strong winds that are making their way across the state.
