Chelsea Manning was released from prison Wednesday after serving 7 years of her 35-year sentence.
She tweeted a photo to document the moment with the caption "first steps of freedom."

The transgender woman and former Army intelligence analyst was convicted for stealing nearly a million pages of documents and videos that were handed over to WikiLeaks.
Manning’s sentence was commuted in January by former President Obama.
