Cadillac Cycling Club To Take To The Streets For Annual Ride Of Silence

A worldwide event is raising awareness and it’s happening right here in Northern Michigan.

Cyclists will take to the roads Wednesday evening for the annual Ride of Silence.

They will be riding in an effort to raise awareness about the rules of the road for cyclists.

They’re also riding in honor of those who have been injured or killed on the roadway.

This is the tenth year the Cadillac Cycling Club has participated and they will be riding around Lake Cadillac.

“There’s many common misconceptions that cyclists don’t belong on the road, that they belong on the sidewalk, but actually, that’s illegal,” says Cadillac Ride of Silence organizer, Michele Andrews. “It’s to raise awareness that we are on the road, that we are an authorized vehicle to be on the road. Our place on the road is wherever it is safe for us to ride,”

The Cadillac Cycling Club encourages everyone to come out and ride with them.

They will be meeting at the Rotary Pavilion at 6:30 p.m. and the ride will begin at 7:00 p.m.
