Work Continues on New Costco in Traverse City

Space is cleared and construction nearly ready to start on the new Costco in Traverse City.

Development on the site began at the beginning of March.

Crews have been getting the 18 acres ready for the new store and gas station.

Cherry Capital Airport agreed to lease the space to Costco for the next 60 years, which will bring about $12.3 million to the airport.

Over the next few weeks, paving for the parking lot will begin along with installation of utilities and then the building of structures, plus new landscaping.

“It’s a great opportunity,” says Kevin Klein, Cherry Capital Airport Director. “A win-win for our community. An investment and improvements along South Airport Road and having such a great store for our community.”

Costco plans to open around the beginning of November.
