Northern Michigan Golfers Enjoying The Warm Temperatures This Spring

Golf brings many people to Northern Michigan and some local golf courses have seen more out of town golfers than usual for this time of year.

All golfers have been enjoying the warmer temperatures.

Golfers here at Lochenheath say the warm temperatures we’ve been having are right on par for a great start to their season.

“There’s nothing better than playing early golf when we’ve been waiting all winter long to play,” said Kevin O’Brien, general manager of Lockenheath Golf Club.

Golf brings more people to Northern Michigan and this year local golf courses are seeing more golfers from out of town earlier than usual.

“We’ve seen a fair amount of locals and our members out here and a few more travelers than normal,” said O’Brien. “I think people are looking at the forecast and coming on up and whether doing wine tours and getting a round of golf in but it’s nice to see that early season golf from people up here visiting,”

And for golfers who live in Northern Michigan…they have been out playing every chance they get.

“I will be on the golf course every day after four,” said Shawn Reiner “Northern Michigan is like the golf mecca, I mean if you can get through the winters; fall, spring and summer are all awesome here so that’s why I choose to play here.”

Lochenheath Golf Club is preparing for a busy weekend and a full course for their first member event of the season.

“It’s going to be a fun weekend to say the least,” said O’Brien.
