New Vietnam War Stone Dedication In Grand Traverse Area Veterans Memorial Park

Saturday the Grand Traverse County community is welcoming a new addition to their veterans memorial park.

The Job Winslow Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution purchased the stone.

It’s not just any stone, it’s in honor of all those who served in the Vietnam War Era.

The local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter planted a red maple tree there just last year at the spot.

Saturday is the formal dedication for the stone.

Lin Meeker, the chapter’s Vietnam War Commemoration Chair, says, “Because they were treated so poorly when they came home we and the actually the department of defense which the chapter is a partner with we are trying to make it up to them really and remind them that we really do appreciate their service.”

The dedication starts at 11 Saturday morning at the Grand Traverse Area Veteran Memorial Park.
