Grand Traverse Co. Parks & Rec Seeks Volunteers To Build New Playground

A Northern Michigan community is looking for volunteers to build a new playground.

In 2014, the iconic playground structure in Traverse City, Kids Kove at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center was torn down.

Now, the Parks and Recreation department is asking for volunteers to help build its replacement.

100 to 130 volunteers, ages 14 and older, are needed to make the Campbell Community playground come to life.

The build takes place on Tuesday, May 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Having a play structure at the civic center is essential,” says Grand Traverse Parks and Recreation Director, Kristine Erickson. “For years and years, Kids Kove was loved and used. It was a destination playground. People came from all over the place. So now it’s time to have that play area used again. We really want to make this a special time and memorable, and later on people can say they were a part of this.”
