Record Number of Voters Register in Michigan for Nov. 8 Election

A record number of people have registered to vote right here in the State of Michigan.

According to the Secretary of State, there are 7.5 million people registered to vote.

More than 120,000 people have been added to the registry since July, according to state data.

The Clam Lake Township clerk attributes the higher numbers to more college-aged students registering to vote.

They’re working longer to accommodate what they expect will be higher voter turn-out for this general election.

“We’re making sure we have extra hours here. We work five days a week,” said Clam Lake Township Clerk Delores Peterson. “At least someone’s here so if someone comes for an application for a ballot, we’re here so they can sign that and get their ballot right away.”

Election Day is on November 8.
