Friends, Family Anxiously Wait For Verdict In Sean Phillips Murder Trial
The Mason County community has waited years for this moment in the Baby Kate case.
Those who have followed the case closely are anxiously awaiting a verdict.
9&10’s Cody Boyer is in Ludington with our team coverage of the Sean Phillips murder trial.
Linda Zeller is one of several people who have been in the courtroom since day one.
She is a close friend of Baby Kate’s mother, Ariel Courtland.
Linda says the time has come for this to end.
“I’ve just had feelings for that baby ever since I heard about it," says Linda Zeller.
Linda Zeller knows more about the Sean Phillips trial than most.
Always in the courtroom and close to Baby Kate’s mother, Ariel.
"This is really a hold up not knowing what happened and she won’t ever know what’s happened to her baby for sure," says Zeller.
While the jury deliberates, they’re forced to be patient, sitting and waiting for answers.
"It means they are being thorough they have asked a lot of questions all through the trial of just about every witness and there’s been multiple questions every time," says Zeller.
And this time she hopes justice is served.
"I’ve got 35 grandchildren and every one of them is important all have a right to life and that baby doesn’t have its life anymore,” says Zeller.
Northern Michigan’s News Leader will be back in Ludington Friday morning when the jury continues to deliberate.
