Grand Traverse Co. Community Holds Fundraiser For Woman With Liver Failure

A woman waiting for a liver transplant is getting a little help from the community.

Michelle White Konstanzer found out she was in liver failure last summer and has been in and out of hospitals since.

We first told you about her struggle back in July.

Now the HelpHOPELive Committee is hosting a golf outing and steak dinner, featuring a silent auction.

The money will go toward Michelle’s housing and traveling expenses from hospital visits.

"Once the transplant is done, she’s gonna have a lot of expenses after that. I guess that anti-rejection medication runs up to $10,000 a month,” says HelpHOPELive event chairperson Janene Takayama. “You hate to see someone lose their house just because they’re sick.”

The golf outing happens Saturday at the Elmwood Golf Course with the steak dinner after at Bayview Inn

The goal is to raise nearly $15,000 by the end of the weekend.
