Trump, Pence Seal GOP Presidential Nomination
Donald Trump is officially the presidential nominee for the Republican Party.
He’s expected to formally accept his nomination Thursday at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
Following Tuesday’s announcement, two of Trump’s children spoke about their father.
Donald Trump Jr. said “impossible” is just the starting point for his father, and Tiffany Trump called him a “great encourager.”
Trump thanked the delegates via satellite, stating, “…together, we achieved historic results with the largest vote total in the history of the Republican Party.”
Along with family and Party members, speakers included former Trump rivals Ben Carson and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who are now standing behind their Party’s nominee.
"It is time to come together and make sure that Donald Trump is our next president,” said Governor Christie. “I am proud to be part of this team."
Northern Michigan’s News Leader spoke with Michigan State Representative Phil Potvin, who was at the convention Tuesday, and talked about supporting Trump.
“The key is that we work together,” he stated. “And Trump, as I did, comes from a previous elected position. He’s been very successful in business. And because of that business background, you know how to make positive decisions.”
Indiana Governor Mike Pence will formally accept the nomination as the Republican vice presidential candidate Wednesday night.
