Symetra Tour Returns to Tullymore

CANADIAN LAKES – The Symetra Tour’s Tullymore Classic returns for a second year at Tullymore Golf Resort in Canadian Lakes this holiday weekend.

One of more than 20 events on the Symetra Tour’s 2016 schedule, the Tullymore Classic will welcome 144 future LPGA Tour professionals over the Fourth of July Weekend.

The 54-hole $100,000 tournament opens Friday and concludes Sunday.

"The leading money winner on the Symetra Tour is playing this year, and we literally have players from all over the world, including Germany and other parts of Europe, South America and Asia,” said Tullymore Golf Resort Chief Operating Officer Don Williams. “It is a great opportunity to see some of the great pro golfers from throughout the world."

This year’s Symetra Tour season has already seen nine different winners in 11 events, with Thailand’s Sherman Santiwiwatthanaphong claiming the tour’s most recent tournament at the Island Resort Championship in the Upper Peninsula’s Harris.

Last year, Michigan native Daniela Iacobelli claimed the $15,000 winner’s check en route to finishing fifth in the Volvik Race for the Card money list and securing an LPGA Tour membership for 2016.

The top-10 on the Symetra Tour money list at season’s end earn an LPGA Tour membership for 2017.

After missing the cut last year, Symetra Tour pro Gabriella Wahl is anticipating her return to Tullymore.

"There are some holes where you have to use some strategy and really place your tee shots to have a good shot into the hole afterwards,” Wahl said. “Knowing the course now is going to make it a lot easier to prepare."

Tickets for this weekend’s event are available at the main entrance. One-day general admission tickets are $10, while three-day general admission is $18.

First-round play tees off at 7:30 a.m. Friday.
