Butterflies, bugs, boat rides and ice cream.
Courtney Sheffer from the is back with a look at some of the summer fun you can have in this week’s What’s Happening in Northern Michigan.
If you’re looking for a fun outing with the kids, the is open for the season and located just outside of Traverse City in Williamsburg.
Their garden is filled with plants and flowers that showcase the hundreds of butterflies from all around the world.
Visit their bug zoo and check out all the bugs on display, including a tarantula tree, honeybee observation hive and even a frog exhibit.
Head north this weekend for and Yoopers ride free on Saturday and Sunday at Bayshore Park in Munising.
The festival will have food, free music, kids’ activities and more.
On the same days, Pictured Rocks Boat Cruises will be offering "Yoopers Ride Free Days," with free rides to the first 1,500 Michigan U.P. residents each day, in addition to offering their regularly scheduled cruises.
And if you’re looking for a sugar-fix, will be attempting to break the world record for the longest ice cream dessert this Saturday.
The current record stands at just over 1,957 feet long, and the rules stipulate that the dessert must be one continuous food item with no breaks, and must be given away for general consumption after it’s measured.
Once the ice cream sundae is built, there will be over twelve thousand scoops of ice cream that will need to be devoured. House of flavors hopes you’re up for the job.
