Fire Destroys Traverse City Home

A fire destroys a home in Traverse City.

A little after 6 this morning, the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department responded to a fire at an East Bay Township home. When crews arrived on the scene, flames were burning through the roof.

Two people and a cat inside were able to escape the home with no injuries. Another cat was rescued and revived by firefighters.

Fire crews had to shuttle in water because there was no available water near the home. They did have a problem with a frozen hydrant, but were able to move to another one in time to put out the flames.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
