Students Remember Edmund Fitzgerald

A fifth grade classroom in Texas found a way to show support and respect for the crew members of the Edmund Fitzgerald this year.

Their artwork will be part of a memorial service for the Edmund Fitzgerald this Sunday at Whitefish Point in Chippewa County.
The students first heard of the Edmund Fitzgerald, which sank in 1975, through the song by Gordon Lightfoot.
Interested in the topic, the class made drawings, and 29 origami boats for each crew member who lost their life in the shipwreck.
During Sunday's ceremony, 29 people will ring the Fitzgerald bell in memory of the ship's crew.
