Case Over Otsego Co. Casino Heads to US Supreme Court

The fight over a Northern Michigan casino will head to the higher courts.

The US Supreme Court plans to hear arguments on whether or not the state has any power to shut down the Bay Mills Indian Community Casino in Vanderbilt.

The casino opened in 2010 but was then ordered to close the following year after the state argued that the tribe opened it without US government permission.

Then, in 2012 a federal appeals court ruled that the state courts had no right to shut down the casino.

The case is expected to be heard December 2nd.
