Three-Car Accident Injures 10 On Kalkaska County Highway

Northern Michigan's News Leader is learning new details about a three-car accident on US-131 in Kalkaska County. We can now tell you ten people were hurt, and at least one person was airlifted. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening though. Police say one of the drivers helped pull people out of a burning car. The portion of the highway near Day Road is now back open. The accident happened earlier this afternoon when a car rear-ended another that was turning left into a business. The impact sent it into oncoming traffic. Police say an oncoming Jeep smashed into the car, and the car caught fire. Four people were trapped inside the burning car. Police say that's when one of the other drivers rushed in to pull them all out. Tonight on Fox 32 News at 10:00 we'll hear from a relative of that man being hailed a hero.
