Osceola Sheriff’s Posse Volunteer Dies Before Annual Ride
A member of one Northern Michigan Sheriff's Posse died suddenly during the annual Pony Express ride on Saturday. Just 39-years-old, Osceola County's Jon Stieg suffered a massive heart attack just before mounting his horse. The posse captain says Stieg was a loving family man and a dedicated volunteer, always willing to donate his time to the posse and to the community. The mounted unit still carried out their traditional ride after the tragedy, but made special arrangements in memory of Jon. Jon Stieg's visitation will be at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City on Tuesday, from 5-8pm. His funeral will be Wednesday at 11am at LeRoy Covenant Church.
