Elegant Violence – Girls Rugby State Champs

The sport of rugby is still on the fringes for most of northern Michigan but there is a solid group of players and teams in the Grand Traverse area. The Traverse Bay Blues Girls Rugby team recently won the state's high school championship after an undefeated season. On Friday they taught Kaz and Corey a few things about rugby, and a few reasons not to mess with them out on the pitch (that's what you call a rugby field!). The team is made up of high school players from across the region, seven schools in all. Coach Stephanie Kehrer formed the team in 2005 and this was the team's most successful season by far. Kaz and Corey have more with the Blues (and a few bruises to show for the morning).
