Drilling Could Boost Local Economy
Hundreds of people headed out to Missaukee County Thursday night to learn if they could be sitting on a gold mine–a gold mine of natural gas or oil, that is. The Michigan State University's Extension Program held a meeting in McBain Thursday night to educate landowners about leasing their mineral rights. Several gas and oil companies are interested in sites in Missaukee County to drill, potentially bringing a financial boost to those landowners. MSU's Extension Program's next informational meeting will be June 23rd in Kalkaska, Mich.
