1434th Engineer Company Returns from Iraq

Northern Michigan welcomed a brave group of men and women home on Thursday. The 1434th Engineer Company of the Michigan National Guard deployed to Iraq for nearly a year. As part of their mission, they worked on at least 50 construction projects to make the living conditions better for U.S. troops. The company commander says this group worked together better than any he's ever seen. Thursday around 1pm, friends and family greeted the unit at Grayling High School in Crawford County. The day was a celebration… of their time spent serving our country and their safe return back to Michigan. The soldiers and their families want to thank everyone for the support over the last year. 9&10's Alex Jokich and photojournalist Corey Petee were at the emotional homecoming and have the story.
