UPDATE: One Gaylord Building Destroyed, Others Damaged After Fire

Northern Michigan's News Leader is on the scene of a large fire on North Main Street in downtown Gaylord. The fire chief tells us that the fire started at a store building just before 8:00PM Wednesday. The building is a barn from a former lumber yard. The building where it started is destroyed. The fire spread to a few surrounding buildings, including a resale shop with two apartments above. Two of the buildings suffered substantial damage. The fire chief says the back end of Mary’s Tavern was burned. No injuries have been reported. Several fire departments are still on the scene, dousing hotspots.
