Traverse City Plays Host To Tom Brokaw
Legendary newsman and award-winning writer, Tom Brokaw paid a visit to Northern Michigan today. Brokaw was in town as part of Traverse City's National Writers Series, which aims to raise money for student writing scholarships. The former Nightly News anchor spoke at Traverse City Area Public Schools and the City Opera House. World War II veterans were among the special guests at tonight's City Opera House Q&A event. Brokaw has dubbed them “the greatest generation that a society ever produced.” Tonight he spoke candidly about some of the stories that inspired him as a young newsman. Applications are available now to high school juniors and seniors interested in writing scholarships through the National Writers Series. Erika Waddell and photojournalist Justin DePrekel have the story.
