National Cherry Festival Unveils Official 2010 Artwork

The National Cherry Festival has unveiled the official artwork for this year's festival. The Festival held a ceremony to recognize all of the area students that created cherry-themed art in its second annual Student Art Competition. All of the artwork was displayed tonight in Traverse City, and winners from different age categories and art forms were announced. The overall winning piece was done by Kirstin Volkening from the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District. Her work will become the National Cherry Festival's official poster for 2010. Other winners will have their pieces sold on items like t-shirts and coffee mugs. The National Cherry Festival also presented a $500 check to the TBAISD to go toward art supplies for students.
