Taking a Barefoot Stroll with a Strong Message

A shoeless stroll in downtown Traverse City on Thursday is designed to inspire and teach what life is like without shoes. All around the country, organizations and communities are teaming up to spread the message to help kids here and abroad who don't have shoes. The event was founded by the company “Tom's Shoes,” known for donating a pair of shoes to third world companies for every pair it sells. Weather-wise, it was a horrible day for the event in northern Michigan, but it was all the more fitting. 9&10's Ryan Raiche and Photojournalist Jeremy Erickson have the story.
