County Sheriffs Deal With Unexpected Inmate Mental Health Costs
Balancing a budget just got a whole lot tougher for many Sheriffs departments across the State. An opinion from the Attorney General is now requiring each County in the State to pay the bills for inmates with mental health issues. The opinion is leaving many Sheriffs to look for cost cutting solutions. The Isabella County Sheriff says he's applied for a 2% grant for the mental health services from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. If he cant get that, the Sheriff says he will approach the Isabella County Commission to contracting with Health Professionals Limited.
