DNRE Says Michigan Deer Free of CWD in 2009

The DNRE says Michigan deer were chronic wasting disease free in 2009. That's some very good news for sportsman. The DNRE say they have not found anything since 2008 when they found positive deer in a captive facility. The department tested over 1,000 deer in 2009. Since 1998, the DNRE has tested more than 30-thousand and have not found anything. Despite the finding they will continue the mandatory testing in a nine township area in Kent County.
